Happy Birthday to Me!

Today was my thirty-seventh birthday! Geez, tempus fugit… Krista and I went out to a common Tuesday night place – the Ground Round. They have a buy one – get one free burger special on Tues. Funny thing is, it is not actually as advertised. That is, you buy one burger – lets say for $7.99, and instead of getting another $7.99 burger free, they will charge you something like $1.50 for ‘toppings’. Yup – they give you the plain burger for free, but you have to pay for the extra toppings (the reason your 1st burger costs $7.99 – about $6.50 + $1.50). It is probably most accurately described as ‘buy one burger, get one plain burger free’. Anyway, they make good burgers, and it is a fun night for a reasonable price.

Fortunately, they honored my free coffee anyway – all I had to do was to show them my driver’s license and promise not to bring in the coupon for another free coffee. No problem. I ordered something which I had never ordered before – if I recall it was called a Macciatto (sp?). Basically, it was four shots of espresso and a bit of frothy milk. It was really strong (which I like) and really good. Note the wide eyed look on my face :-)

As for my birthday itself, it was a good, if uneventful day. Krista and my mom went together to buy me a new digital camera – as our old one was a bit ‘long in the tooth’ and far too large to carry around on a regular basis. I really do not feel any different than I did yesterday – which should not be too surprising. Perhaps I will feel different about my 40th birthday…I will have to wait and see.
