New Beginnings!

Well, this is my first attempt at getting back in shape! I recorded this cycling session from my GPS enabled phone! Pretty amazing technology.

Anyway, I am hoping to prepare myself spiritually, emotionally, and physically for the “new life” which Krista and I will experience as parents. The physical preparation has been the last of these three areas which I have addressed.

Hopefully this blog will help keep me motivated and disciplined during this endeavor. My hope is to ride to-and-from work during the Summer. This ride was a good test for it is longer than the commute I would have to make via bicycle. The difficulty however, is that I have yet to find an easy way to get to the Sioux Falls bike trail. Where we live in the city is, unfortunately, located on the other side of a quite large hill – which separates my house from the trail…note the elevation chart in this post…there is a large hill right at the end of my trip. Just when you are beginning to ‘wind down.’

It is my goal to find a route to the trail which avoids any undue hills. Yes, that is the point of a ‘workout’, but if my daily commute is too difficult or time consuming, then it is less likely that I would ’stay the course’ ‘and continue with the routine. So, the search will continue…
